• Cover letter

  We welcome them. They can be brief, interesting and creative. We read blind, so only the editors who open your email or submittable submission will know who you are. We do this so that we can judge the appeal of the piece you send us rather than be swayed by your past publications. But you're welcome to put any information in your bio that you feel defines you as a writer. We enjoy reading those too, and if accepted, that info will then be shared with all who read your work (and probably form the basis of your contributer's note).

• Eligibility

  No specific eligibility requirements

• Formatting

  Double-spaced 12-point font is welcome. We traditionally used Georgia font. Now WordPress helps determine our look somewhat. Text documents are appreciated.

• Author's rights

  First North American Serial Rights; the right to archive your works indefinitely on our website; the right to promote them ad infinitum through social media. Everything else reverts to you after publication.

• Additional info

  In general, we believe in letting you know that you have really been read. We're not going to promise that you will ALWAYS get more than a form decline letter from us, but most of the time you will. Expect a letter from us that contains some type of personalized response and--guess what?--we don't even charge for that. Treasured comment from one previous submitter: "Thank you for your rejection letter. I have received ACCEPTANCE letters that weren't this good."
