The Vassar Review is an international, multidisciplinary literary arts journal that fosters working relationships between faculty, students, and published artists in order to engage its annual theme with care and reflective insight.

The journal is a revival of the former literary arts magazine published by the faculty and students of Vassar College. VR entered the literary scene in 1927 shaped by a small circle of students, including Elizabeth Bishop. Today, the journal is international in scope and multidisciplinary in nature, across both a print and digital interface. Each academic year culminates with a printed publication and a digital supplement.

The editorial process is largely one of collage; of creating a tapestry from other's hard-won words and images. In the tenth year of the Vassar Review's revival, we hope to expose the most intricate mechanisms of the creative machine, while paying homage to the legacies of issues past. We are, as a magazine, a multi-paneled story. But how are stories manufactured? How do we frame ourselves on, around, and inside of them? For our decadal issue, we seek pieces that interrogate superstructure, methods of transmission and omission, and the technical decisions that guide a work's formal innovations. We are interested in architectures that take pleasure in their conceits and
dissect the art of forgery. After all, lying, too, is an act of construction. It is said we live in a 'post-truth world' where the allure of an attractive artifice can weigh more heavily than a naked fact. If we do live in that world, we'd like to take advantage of it. We want your best forgeries…
