The Poetry Lighthouse is a publishing house for poetry, short-stories, fiction and translations. They publish an anthology every year and hold events and poetry prizes.

The Poetry Lighthouse is now open for submissions! We are seeking bold, evocative poetry that illuminates the human experience. We welcome work that is deeply felt, richly imagined, and unafraid to explore the depths of language and emotion.

What We’re Looking For:
✨ Poetry that resonates, challenges, and inspires.
✨ Work that embraces strong imagery and poetic devices. 
✨ Although there is no theme, we appreciate pieces that explore themes of identity, nature, love, loss, memory, philosophy, diaspora, LGBTQ+, minorities and multicultural.

Poetry Submissions

The Poetry Lighthouse is now accepting short story submissions! We are looking for compelling, well-crafted fiction that captivates, moves, and lingers in the reader’s mind. Whether your story is lyrical, surreal, deeply personal, or sharply observational, we want writing that shines.  

What We’re Looking For:
✨ Literary fiction, flash fiction, and experimental narratives  
✨ Strong storytelling with rich character development and vivid imagery  
✨ Stories that take risks with language, structure, or perspective  

Guidelines:
📌 Submit up to one short story (max 3,000 words) or up to three flash fiction pieces (each under 1,000 words)  
📌 Simultaneous submissions are allowed

✔ Selected stories will be published in The Poetry Lighthouse digital magazine
✔ Featured pieces may be considered for our print anthology

Short-stories

The Poetry Lighthouse is now accepting poetry translations into English! We seek beautifully rendered translations that preserve the essence, rhythm, and depth of the original poem while making it resonate with English-speaking readers.

Languages We Accept:
🌍 Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Hindi, and Bengali

What We’re Looking For:
✨ Thoughtful, poetic translations that retain the soul of the original
✨ Work that showcases linguistic artistry and cultural nuance
✨ A brief translator’s note (optional) sharing insights on the poem and the translation process

Guidelines:
📌 Submit up to 5 translated poems (side-by-side with the original)
📌 You must have permission from the original author (unless the poem is in the public domain)
📌 Simultaneous submissions are allowed

Poetry Translations

What to Submit:
- Cover Letter: Introduce yourself and your manuscript. Tell us a bit about your background, your poetic journey, and why you believe your work aligns with The Poetry Lighthouse. Feel free to include any relevant publication history or personal connection to the themes in your manuscript.
- Manuscript Format: We accept full-length manuscripts ranging from 60 to 200 pages (minimum 60 pages, no exceptions). Manuscripts should be submitted as a single document in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format. Please use 12-point Times New Roman.
- Samples/Incomplete Manuscripts: If your manuscript is still in progress you're welcome to submit a sample selection (10–15 pages) along with a brief project description.
