The Fifth Corner is an independent Canadian literary press publishing dark literary fiction, speculative horror, and psychologically resonant work.

Each publication is curated with commissioned artwork and assembled as a cohesive reading experience. We seek work distinguished by atmosphere, psychological depth, formal precision, and emotional resonance.

We are particularly interested in fiction that lingers beyond its final page—unsettling, intelligent, and memorable.

The Fifth Corner Prize 2026
The Fifth Corner invites submissions for its inaugural fiction prize.
We are drawn to work that unsettles quietly—stories that linger, distort, and resist easy resolution. We welcome dark, speculative, and cross-genre fiction that prioritizes atmosphere, psychological depth, and emotional precision.
One winning story will receive $1,000 CAD and publication in Issue No. 2 (Summer 2026). Finalists may also be considered for publication.
Guidelines:
Up to 4,000 words
Multiple submissions are welcome; each entry must be submitted separately and includes its own reading fee
Previously unpublished work only
Simultaneous submissions are allowed (please notify us if accepted elsewhere)
