Art

Color artwork is preferred. We accept all visual art styles. However, photography will be a hard sell. Digital and traditional paintings, illustrations, and drawings are our favorites! Remember, as with prose, no AI or AI-assisted submissions will be accepted. We want original work, so please do not submit anything that has been accepted for publication elsewhere!

Comics

We are interested in short-form and serialized comics. Please query potential ideas with our editors by emailing us at did.snoozine@gmail.com. We plan to dedicate up to 30 pages in every issue to comics. When querying with us, please keep this limitation in mind. There is no minimum page count for comics. We will request a maximum of 10 pages per edition for serialized stories. For one-shot comics, we will request a maximum of 20 pages. Please know that these page counts are subject to fluctuate depending on the needs of each issue. Also, keep in mind that we want to be flexible with these restrictions; don’t self-reject just because you’re one page over. If you’re creating quality work, we want to see it! Please prepare the following and submit them in one email to did.snoozine@gmail.com. Include COMIC QUERY in the title of your email. Title of Your Comic: If you have not settled on a title, using a placeholder title is fine. Logline: Give us 1-3 sentences that summarize your story. Think about giving an elevator pitch. Your main character and the plot should be evident. Synopsis: If your logline draws us in, we’ll want to understand the progression of the story you have planned. In a one-page Word document, provide a synopsis of the story arc. For a planned series, please provide the overall story arc, not just the first submission. As writers ourselves, we completely understand the desire to sit on spoilers and major plot points at this stage, but it is crucial to our understanding (and possible acceptance) of the story to know these things. So please spoil it for us (we promise we won’t spoil anything for the readers!) Outline: Provide a simple outline of the pages you have planned in a Word document (we don’t need sketches at this point.) For a one-shot, we’d like to see an outline for the entire story. For a planned serialization, we only need an outline for the first submission. Character Profile: We’d like to see a character profile for any prominent characters. We love stories that are character-driven, so we need to see that you have sufficiently developed your characters. Bio: Tell us a little about yourself and provide links to any social media where we can see your past work. If you are not currently on social media, please attach a sample of your work to the query email.

About

We plan to publish four issues per year, with dedicated themes for each. These will be split into two volumes, with one issue in each volume dedicated to “Dreams” and the other to “Nightmares.” Contests and other writing activities are in the works as well, so stay tuned for more news!
