COPE MAGAZINE is a creative magazine dedicated to amplifying voices from the chronic illness community.  

COPE MAGAZINE was founded in July 2025. We're here to give the chronic illness community a space to share stories, connect, and be real. Through the expression of lived chronic illness experiences, the magazine fosters a sense of belonging, understanding, and support for those living with a chronic illness, one page/story at a time. 

As a creative magazine we publish personal essays, short stories, poems, artwork, photography, comics, music, documentaries, & more! 



We only accept work from people who are disabled or living with chronic illness (including mental illness and neurodivergence)

In honor of COPE Magazine's first anniversary, we want to revisit the theme of our first issue and the core question we explore in every issue: How do people with chronic illnesses cope daily and/or long term?<div><br></div><div>Some topics to consider:</div><div><br></div><div>What physical, emotional, and mental challenges do you face on your most difficult days?</div><div><br></div><div>What specific coping mechanisms have you developed that help you through these periods?</div><div><br></div><div>How has your relationship with your body and illness evolved over time?</div><div><br></div><div>What support systems (people, resources, tools) do you rely on during flare-ups?</div><div><br></div><div>What would you want others to understand about your experience during these challenging days?</div><div><br></div><div>What advice would you give to somebody new to the chronic illness community?</div><div><br></div><div>Your reflection may take any creative form that feels comfortable—a personal essay, flash fiction, poem,  photograph, comic, artwork, or anything else you can think of. COPE provides a space to share with others in the chronic illness community how they feel and offers the opportunity to discover new coping strategies.</div><div><br></div><div>Written works should be a MAXIMUM OF 4 PAGES (double spaced, size 12 font).</div><div><br></div><div>You may submit A MAXIMUM OF 2 WORKS for this issue, and please submit them IN 2 SEPARATE FORM RESPONSES.</div><div><br></div><div>You can choose to answer any question(s) that resonate with you. </div><div><br></div><div>COPE magazine will not accept work generated by or partially including AI. </div>
