Working on a novel can make it easy to completely retreat from the land of lit mags and put all of your energy into either trying to find an agent (which I cannot help with, ask Kailey) or just toiling in the word mines (aka Scrivener). These magazines can help you break that habit. These magazines publish novel excerpts, interview novelists, and are generally interested in lending a hand to those of us who spend our precious hours (and months and years) grinding at just one long story. Some of these opportunities are for writers earlier in the process—yes, you can submit parts of your novel-in-progress—and some are more geared toward writers with books forthcoming. Hopefully, there's something here for you no matter where you are with your novel.
